    Pros +

    • It was very peaceful and beautiful.
    • The location & the History. The WWII War Museum. It is awesome that Home Phutoey River Kwai honors these POW’s with this amazing museum. The history made HP River Kwai more than a resort. Also the million dollar view, waking up to the sounds of many different birds and listening to the Howler Monkeys across the river in the evenings. The food is amazing! Great breakfast buffet.
    • The view is exceptional. The hot pool was very nice.

    Cons -

    • The hot spring could have been hotter in the pools.
    • The Pool area needs some attention. Board on the deck needs replaced and a bit of tidying up would make the pool & lake area more attractive. It is sad people still litter but train your staff to pick it up. Have more than one rubbish bin. The elephant in the Mont Village. OH what a sad sad situation for that one elephant as is for the one across the river. This is not ethical treatment of the elephants. They need to be in an ethical sanctuary with other elephants. The elephant at the Mong Village was showed pure flustration & anger being kept in that small enclosure waiting to be fed a banana that it smacked me a good one with its trunk. About knocked me on my butt. Did break a finger. No blame to the elephant but to the Ming people for keeping it in solitary like a Prisoner of its own war. Shame on them. A hotel shuttle to the market would be a nice.
    • Patio furniture was just OK and somewhat dirty.

We enjoyed everything about this place - staff and service, the room, the grounds and views, and since the weather was very cool we really loved the hotsprings. Will stay here again for sure!

    The facilities were excellent .

Rooms are starting to be a bit worn out, hotl could have atleast provided electric mosquito repellents for the rooms.

    9EricPosted on: 12-6-2025

The location, the surrounding nature, the views on the river, the activities (kayaking, paddle, walking trails)

The food : the quality of both dinner and breakfast was extremely disappointing> Also, it is regrettable that they did not set a noce terrace overlooking the river where could be sipped drinks

We had a single room for 4 with 2 double beds. The room was very big, and very nice, but it was not possible to make it completely dark. The resort is nicely placed on the river side. The pool and hot pool are very nice. It is possible to do activities on the lake for free. The included breakfast was good, though not extraordinary. The restaurant is rather good, though a bit expensive.

When taking a shower, a lot of water was going into the bathroom itself. The resort is very remote, and thus you cannot easily go to another restaurant and have to go to the hotel restaurant, though there is always a taxi available or the hotel can easily provide one for you.

The territory was wonderful, green, and magical. The pool and hot springs were great. The food at the restaurant was good. The staff was friendly and mostly helpful. Large room in front of a pond.

Our room was large, but not very clean, and smelled unpleasant. The bathroom in our room was the biggest disappointment. There was a huge shower and a bathtub with a shower too, but both showerheads were damaged, and we couldn't shower. The toilet tank was filling up too slowly, so after one flush, it took forever for it to fill up enough to flush again. The water pressure in the faucet was weak. The next morning, we talked to a manager, and she said it would be fixed. We left for a day trip, hoping we could shower normally when we're back. Unfortunately, nothing was done, and we had to talk again to the manager and then wait for the handyman to fix at least the shower head. And then we found that the toilet was leaking, and he fixed that too. All that took an hour and a half of our vacation time, while we only spent two unpleasant nights there. They definitely should take better care of the rooms and check that they are in decent condition before they give keys to their guests.

The view of the river from our room, the location of the resort, the jungle trail

    5AndrewPosted on: 7-8-2025

    Staff is friendly.

I know inflation is effecting everyone but the prices for all the extra activities were expensive. I thought things would be cheaper being away from major tourist areas since I live in Pattaya but I was clearly wrong. This is low season and everything was priced higher. Again this is not a negative against the staff but families need to be aware of this. If you’re hiring a taxi to get here just be aware it is not close to anything. Lastly, the nearest ATM is about 15km away.

We are returning customers to this lovely hotel.Nice to have hot springs among the other facilities. The setting is amazing as well as the different attractions in and outside the resort.

    8Abdulla A.Posted on: 5-29-2025

great location with history. peaceful but have to take care of bugs, lizards and frogs. friendly staff and feel welcomed. 3 nights would be just minimum to explore near by and extra day need to be at the hotel just enjoy the hot spring pool at the hotel.

it takes 4 hours from Bangkok with Bolt/ grab and could cost about 2500Bath and return to BKK airport took 5 hours and no taxi is available. Hotel transfer cost 4800 bath or else the public transport by buses can be longer. breakfast is average and the restaurant menu is mostly Thai.

A very private and comfortable room in an enjoyable natural garden setting

    8LauraPosted on: 4-29-2025

The location is stunning, you feel like you are in the jungle. The pool and hot spring pool. I wish I’d have stayed for more than one day but didn’t have time.

The rooms are slightly dated and could have benefitted from a thorough sweep. Bathroom is also not sealed so mosquitos and bugs got in but hey, you’re in the jungle so we just went with it.

The view from the cabin is EVERYTHING. We couldn't find a better view in the entire resort. The onsen with thermal water was surprisingly refreshing despite the 40 degree outside temperature. The warm water somehow made you cool off. At night it's magical!Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Privacy from the room was top tier. Definitely worth the price of the room and the journey to get to the resort. The sounds at night kept us trying to decipher which animal was which. Lots of cute geckos and beautiful birds. This is the only place I regretted not having binoculars! This resort was the highlight of our Thailand trip! The museum was very informative and the gardens of the resort are beautiful. You can tell the place was built with the guest experience in mind!

Tv was only showing Thai channels and no smart tv so we couldn't use it. Although when you're in this place, you're better off without it!The museum could use some fans for airflow and a little sprucing up

Beautiful escape to nature with our family. Great location on River Kwai with boating and cave exploring on doorstep. Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely clean room and pool.

    Some activities a bit expensive.
